Accessibility
On May 9, 2024, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office for Civil Rights (OCR) published Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Disability in Programs or Activities Receiving Federal Financial Assistance. The rule — effective July 8, 2024 — updates and expands Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504).
A summary Fact Sheet can be found here.
In brief, the rule requires that entities receiving federal financial assistance ensure accessibility of their digital and information technology (IT) to people with disabilities.
Accessible grammar checkers and writing assistants are helpful for those with disabilities such as visual impairment.
To help entities that fall under the expanded Section 504 requirements effective July 8, 2024, Sapling offers the following web accessibility functionality with its SDK:
Screen Reader Support
For screen readers, Sapling includes the aria-label
